People from all parts of the world, regardless of where they are from or what nationality they are, associate words such as freedom, hope, and independence with the word "America". For whatever reason, whether it be religious persecution, or a totalitarianism government, many people envision America as a dream they wish could be a reality for them as well. It is for this reason that I am proud to be an American. I am proud to live in a nation where it is possible for an African American man or a woman to run for President. It fills me with pride to know that my government can see past racial issues and elect the most qualified person for public office. Most nations still would not even consider electing an African American, much less a woman to run for public office. I have faith in my government and appreciate the fact that I don't have to be afraid, because I know the freedoms that I enjoy will always be available to me. I rest easy at night knowing that my government will always be looking out for my best interests. My America is, the "Land of the Free". |
