When I hear the word America I think of: "The home of the brave," "The home of the free," and "The home of the proud." Each of these three quotes has so many different meanings, but they all make me proud to be an American. "The home of the brave," this includes all of the men and women that fight for our freedom. Being a family member of an enlisted Army Soldier who has served in Iraq makes me proud to be an American. "The home of the Free," being an American lets me have my freedom. There are many other countries that do not have freedom. Knowing that our freedom does  not come cheap makes me proud to be an American. "The home of the proud," being an American means that you take pride in your country and all that it stands for. You take pride in the bravery of the soldiers that protect us, and you take pride in the freedom that we have. All of these things make me proud to be a woman in America.

Being a brave, free, proud woman makes me thankful to be an American. Women in other countries do not have the privileges that I have. They do not get to go to school, vote, go out of their homes with out their husbands or even drive a car. These things may seem small when you talk about them, but if tomorrow women were no longer allowed to do these things, the importance would grow bigger. Woman's rights in America have not always been equal to men, but now as the days go on their rights become more and more equal. In 2008 there were two women in the presidential race, one for President and one for Vice President. These women had the courage to be brave, voice their freedom, and show their pride that they had in America. Just because neither of these women won their races, it doesn't mean that they are going to give up. They will fight every day for every American woman. Being an American woman is not something that I take for granted, it is something that I cherish every day.
