This is a picture of Atlanta Georgia in the 1860's. As you can see there was not much to Atlanta but trains and a few buildings. Georgia was admitted to statehood on January 2, 1788. Atlanta is the capitol of Georgia and the nickname is The Peach State. "Wisdom, justice, and moderation" is the famous motto of the state of Georgia. The Brown Thrasher is the state bird. Georgia's state flower is the Cherokee Rose and the tree is the Live Oak. "Georgia On My Mind" is the state song of Georgia. |
