Delaware Breakwater

Delaware, abbreviated DE, became a state on December 7, 1787, and was the first of the original thirteen colonies. Its capital city is Dover. Symbols that represent this state are the horseshoe crab, the peach blossom flower, and the blue hen chicken. Delaware’s state song is “Our Delaware" by George B. Hynson , Donn Devine, and Will M. S. Brown. This picture is of a breakwater in Delaware. A breakwater is a protective structure of stone or concrete that prevents a beach from washing away.
