President Roosevelt Giving a Speech

New Hampshire, abbreviated NH, became a state on June 21, 1788. It was the ninth of the original thirteen colonies.  The state song of New Hampshire is “Old New Hampshire” by Dr. John F. Holmes and the music by Maurice Hoffmann. The state animal is the White-tail Deer, the state insect is the beautiful Ladybug, and the state bird is the Purple Finch. New Hampshire is nicknamed the Granite State because of its vast granite quarries. New Hampshire’s motto is “Live Free or Die.” This picture is of President Roosevelt giving a speech. A famous quote from this speech is "Our history contains no name worth remembering of any man who led a life of ease."
