What does it mean to you to be an American? For the creators of Picture America, we have felt compelled to enrich the web with our site devoted to American patriotism.

In the 1930's and 1940's America was turned upside down because of the Great Depression, yet Americans never lost morale and stayed patriotic through out the years. The American way of life is captured in these images, from men and women harvesting fields to help feed the nation, ladies becoming Rosie the Riveter and taking up jobs in the armed forces to help the country.
