America is a land of opportunities. America was founded on a key principle that every man was created equally and that every man has the right to pursue happiness. As an American there is always room to improve and better yourself as a person regardless of where you are from. Regardless of color, sex, age you can always better yourself. In this picture this is what these men were portraying. America has many examples of rags to riches stories of how Americans defied many struggles and great odds to achieve their dreams. Even though these men were in the midst of the civil rights movement they still thought of this country as their own. These men were fighting two wars; one at home for equality, and the other war over seas to protect freedom for Americans at home. Even though at one point in America's history these men were not treated fairly, they always stuck by America's side to protect it. |
